Hey everyone!
Our wonderful MC, Jayde Adams, has put together our first promo video. Here it is:
Anyway, it’s that time of year when everything you normally do starts having a theme, puts on a red and white hat, stinks of mulled wine and cloves and costs you four times more than usual.
Well…
It has been an absolutely smashing first few months for us and it’s largely down to the amazing comics and our great audiences, so The Painted Grin team is having an Xmas Party to say thank you, complete with mulled wine, mince pies, 12 festive comedians, and some music and poetry.
Imagine a cross between a really good gig and a really bad staff office party, all paid for by our weekly collection, to say thank you to everyone who came along this year and made our little stage so much fun to run.
So on Tuesday 20th December we have…
DAVID MILLS – 2011 Barbican New Act of the Year Winner
TEZ ILYAS – 2011 BBC New Comedy Award Finalist
MILES LLOYD
“A f**cking excellent act” (Dan Antopolski)
“Miles Lloyd is the best at what he does” (Tom Green)
JAY COWLE
“I have a new hero…Cowle is unique, passionate, funny, and one hell of an original stand up…this guy CAN NOT be missed, if you do, then all I can say say is your going to miss out on something pretty special.” (The New Current)
BRENDAN O’DONOGHUE
LINDSAY SHARMAN – 2010 Funny Women Award Finalist
TONY MARRESE
MIKE SHEER
“…to be a participant in the world of his Godless and deceptively insightful imagination is a pleasure and an excitement…” (On the Fringe)
DANE BAPTISTE
“Dane Baptiste is engaging, smart and with many a sharp line. This chap is going places” (Tyrone Atkins, Comedy Heat)
+ 3 OPEN SPOTS
For the first time, we are also holding open spots for anyone who fancies jumping in on the night!
PLUS
For the first time at The Painted Grin, LIVE MUSIC from the wonderfully talented LAURENCE OWEN, and POETRY from the excellent ANT SMITH!
And all held together with style by your brilliant MC for the evening, comedian and former disco dancing champion, JAYDE ADAMS!
Every Tuesday, whether it be tried-and-tested material or experimenting with something new, The Painted Grin offers the opportunity to come and see some excellent comics flaunt their hilarious wares in a friendly, low-key environment before they inevitably hit the big time.
It kicks off at 8pm at Benny’s Bar on Bethnal Green Rd – and best of all, it’s free.
We’ll look forward to seeing you there!
Merry Christmas!
Oli, Jayde & Janet
